A bounty hunter pig wanders the world with a free-spirited elephant he’s determined to capture. Bill the Cat’s images from author Berkeley Breathed’s comic book Bloom County can be considered one of Hitpig’s prizes and a makeshift parachute. Pickles: Eat your heart out, Dumbo! A new animated film called HITPIG! has hit theaters. This film is based on the children’s book Pete and the Pickles by author Berkeley Breathed. This is the story of Hitpig (Jason Sudeičius), a pig bounty hunter who returns escaped animals to their owners. Frankly, the title doesn’t make sense, a pig doesn’t kill anyone like a murderer. It should probably be called PITE THE BOUNTY HUNTER or just PETE AND Pickles. His name is literally Hitpig. Along the way, he meets Pickles (Lily Singh) an elephant who’s on the run from the deceptively arrogant Leapin’ Lord Leotard (Rainn Wilson). They form a bond that makes Hitpig question his career and life. This movie is good. I realize it wasn’t made with me in mind. The humor is all over the place, sometimes aimed at kids below, sometimes a little above. Lots of jokes. The story moves at a mile a minute, sometimes literally, and won’t let you catch your breath. All the characters talk fast, but I loved hearing Hannah Gadsby as the energetic koala. The movie looks low budget, and I’m actually surprised it made it to theaters. There are a couple of decent scenes about the chosen family. HITPIG! A great movie in my opinion, but instantly forgettable and not worth spending money on unless you have a young ADHD child who loves loud noises and bright colors.
